Influence of the Hanjiang River’s Inlet Sediment Decrease on Modern Sedimentation in the Underwater Delta

The Hanjiang River is the second-largest river in Guangdong Province, China. modern sedimentation pattern of subaqueous delta has been significantly affected by changes sediment delivered River. Based on multiperiod charts and columnar samples from delta, influence a sharp decrease flux deposition past 60 years was studied through combination chart-based analysis evolution erosion samples. results showed that significant reductions fluxes Rongjiang had obviously spatially differentiated effects delta. decreases caused grain size near-estuary area to coarsen upward, rate decrease, depositional state change an erosional state. Since sediments discharged into ocean after reservoir impoundment are mainly fine-grained suspended sediments, supply coarse-grained decreased, resulting upward fining spatial response sea differed those Yangtze Yellow deltas.
